Vice-President and Director of Research

Christophe LESSCHAEVE is the Vice-President and Director of Research of ESILUX. He works as a postdoctoral researcher in political science at the University of Luxembourg, focusing on democratic governance, political representation, and public opinion in Europe, with particular attention to post-conflict and post-authoritarian contexts. He is also a guest professor at Hasselt University.

He works extensively with comparative survey data and expert surveys to examine how nationalism, populism, and major crises shape democratic attitudes, institutional trust, and support for emergency measures.

He has coordinated and contributed to several cross-national research projects in Southeast and Eastern Europe that combine academic analysis with policy-relevant outputs. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes and is regularly used in debates on democratic resilience, governance, and security-related trade-offs in Europe.

He earned his PhD in political science from the University of Antwerp in 2017.
